Background

In 2011, as a bootstrapped startup, the original Maestro Touch hit 20,000 downloads and was featured in Apple's App Store in its first week. Its novel interface visually represented relational music theory — but at its core it was a digital instrument. Building it out to its full vision was cost-prohibitive for a passion project in a niche market, so the concept was never fully realized.

Concept

Soundpetal is that idea reborn, AI-native — a full studio and community, not just an instrument. An AI music assistant helps anyone make music; sheet-music transcription converts input to notation; instrument-library generation builds playable libraries; and ElevenLabs powers AI sound effects. A social Explore feed and shareable pages make creations spreadable, and gamified quests grant Pro time.

Build story

AI-first building brought the project back to life with a power and vigor that were previously impossible. A decade ago, even with millions of dollars, feature-matching today's version — a full studio plus a community layer — would have been out of reach for a solo builder. Built as a PWA on the orchestration system, its growth and entitlement engine — quests, a founding-member flow, and referral rewards that grant real Pro days — was built and verified end-to-end by build-and-verify agent lanes, with anti-abuse checks proven server-side.

Outcomes

Live in invite-only beta with the full create-share-grow loop working end-to-end; pre-revenue by design, with the payment go-live flip as the last human step. A beautiful concept that was economically impossible a decade ago, resurrected and dramatically expanded by a single builder — a microcosm of the whole thesis.
